Reminder to all dog owners to come into the District Office at 136 Spruce Avenue and renew their licenses. We do everything we can to return lost dogs to their families. Licensed dogs, however, have a much better chance of being returned to their owners than unlicensed dogs.
The Bylaw Enforcement Department enforces regulatory bylaws, as well as Council policies, guidelines and resolutions within the boundaries of The District of Sparwood. The goal of the Bylaw Department is not to penalize the citizens of Sparwood or visitors to our community, but to achieve compliance through education and the provision of information in order to preserve the quality of life which each citizen is entitled. Enforcement goals are met with integrity, impartiality and professionalism.
Respecting the rights of our neighbors and ensuring that our property values are maintained is an important aspect of community living. While there are certain areas of enforcement that are safety related and require proactive enforcement, the majority of the bylaws are enforced on a complaint only basis.
