Assessment
The Planning Division of AECOM completed an Sustainability Assessment of the District of Sparwood in the fall of 2008. The assessment consisted of 3 phases. During the first phase, interviews were conducted with all of the department heads. The second phase was a review of all of the District's bylaws and policies and the third phase was a Committee Review. The Committee Review was conducted by first convening a Sustainability Initiatives Committee made up of a cross section of our community. The members were Jim Banks, Cina Wales Green, Cpl. Andy Veltmeyer, Mark Bernadet, Tracy Kaisner, Barbara Nunes, Don Patterson, Allison Hawley, Chris Nand and Joan Halverson.

Plan
The next step is to begin developing a Community Sustainability Plan. The Plan will encourage our community to take a fresh look at our future and find ways to become more sustainable. A Community Advisory Committee has been established to oversee the process. The members of this Committee are:
