Council has initiated a Water Metering program where all businesses and residences will be metered by December 31, 2011.
The District of Sparwood will be seeking proposals from qualified firms to develop a program where they provide educational materials, supply & install water meters and refinish areas where the meter is placed. The meters will be installed inside the home (basement), not in the lawn, as is done in warmer climates. This process will take some time to implement and will not start until 2010.
The cost of installing the meters will be paid for by the District of Sparwood. Billing rates have not been established however it is expected that residential rates will be set for an average family and scaled for higher water use.
