The Sparwood Lions Club has enjoyed more than 30 years as one of the longest service organization in Sparwood (The District of Sparwood was incorporated May 12, 1966).  The Lions are a service club dedicated to serving the community, young and old alike. Meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at MacIsaac's. The membership fee is $20 per year.

Some major events include the 3rd Saturday in November TV Auction, Sunday night TV Bingo from September through May, Coal Miner Days Pancake Breakfast, Youth Exchange, Food Bank, Toys for Tots. The Youth Exchange is open to anyone between the ages of 16-20 who may want to apply. It is for 6 weeks during summer break in countries including Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand & South America. The individual is expected to pay but by going through the Lions Club special rates are given and it is therefore affordable.
